Ultra-Thin 37mm ¡Á 10mm Dual-Band FPC Design

The TXWF-FPC3-3710 achieves simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz dual-band coverage in an ultra-compact 37mm ¡Á 10mm footprint with only 1mm thickness and 1g weight. The flexible polyimide substrate enables conformal mounting on curved surfaces inside plastic enclosures, device lids, or along PCB edges where rigid antennas cannot fit. The 3M adhesive backing ensures secure attachment to non-metallic surfaces (ABS, PC, glass) without screws or additional hardware. This dual-band design eliminates the need for two separate antennas, reducing BOM cost and assembly complexity while supporting WiFi 6 (802.11ax), WiFi 5 (802.11ac), and legacy WiFi standards across both frequency bands.

IPEX-3 Connector with 120mm RF1.13 Low-Loss Cable

Equipped with the latest IPEX-3 (MHF3) connector standard and a 120mm RF1.13 low-loss coaxial cable, this antenna provides superior mechanical reliability (50+ mating cycles) and minimal insertion loss across both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands. The RF1.13 cable (1.13mm outer diameter) is specifically designed for high-frequency applications, maintaining 50¦¸ impedance with low attenuation at 5.8GHz where cable losses are more significant. The 120mm cable length provides sufficient routing flexibility within device enclosures while minimizing signal loss. Cable length is customizable per the CDEBYTE datasheet to meet specific project requirements.

Professional Test Report

Verified using professional RF test equipment across both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands: measured SWR of 1.12 at 5.8GHz and 1.30 at 2.4GHz, both well within the ¡Ü2.0 specification. These measured values correspond to return loss better than -20 dB at 5.8GHz and -17 dB at 2.4GHz, confirming excellent impedance matching across both WiFi bands. The dual-band planar design achieves consistent 2.5 dBi gain on both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz, with omnidirectional horizontal coverage pattern suitable for smart home and IoT applications.

FAQ

Q: Does this antenna support WiFi 6 (802.11ax) on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands?

A: Yes, the TXWF-FPC3-3710 covers 2400-2500 MHz and 5150-5850 MHz, fully supporting WiFi 6 (802.11ax), WiFi 5 (802.11ac), WiFi 4 (802.11n), and legacy 802.11a/b/g standards on both bands. The measured SWR of 1.30 at 2.4GHz and 1.12 at 5.8GHz ensures excellent impedance matching for modern WiFi 6 chipsets from Qualcomm (QCA6391), MediaTek (MT7921), Intel (AX200/AX210), and Broadcom. The IPEX-3 connector is compatible with all major dual-band WiFi module platforms.

Q: Can the 120mm cable length be customized?

A: Yes, according to the CDEBYTE datasheet, the standard 120mm RF1.13 cable length is customizable to meet specific project requirements. Contact CDEBYTE technical support or your distributor to request custom cable lengths. Note that longer cables increase insertion loss, particularly at 5.8GHz where RF1.13 cable attenuation is approximately 0.8 dB/100mm. For optimal 5.8GHz performance, keep cable length as short as practical for your application. The standard 120mm length provides a good balance between routing flexibility and signal integrity for most device designs.

Q: Can this antenna be mounted on metal surfaces?

A: No, FPC antennas should not be mounted directly on metal surfaces. Metal backing acts as a ground plane that detunes the antenna, significantly increasing SWR and reducing efficiency. Mount the TXWF-FPC3-3710 on non-metallic surfaces such as ABS plastic, polycarbonate (PC), glass, or similar low-permittivity materials. Maintain at least 5mm clearance from metal components, PCB copper pours, and battery cells. For devices with metal enclosures, position the antenna near a plastic window or non-metallic section of the housing. The 3M adhesive backing is optimized for plastic surfaces and provides secure long-term attachment.

Q: What is the expected WiFi range on 2.4GHz vs. 5.8GHz with this antenna?

A: Range depends on transmit power, receiver sensitivity, and environment. With typical WiFi transmit power (15-20 dBm) and proper installation: 2.4GHz provides 40-100 meters indoor and 150-250 meters outdoor line-of-sight, with better wall penetration and extended range. 5.8GHz provides 20-60 meters indoor and 80-150 meters outdoor, with higher bandwidth (up to 1.3 Gbps on WiFi 5) but reduced range and wall penetration. The 2.5 dBi gain on both bands provides approximately 1.8x range improvement compared to 0 dBi reference antennas. For video streaming and high-bandwidth applications, use 5.8GHz; for extended range and IoT sensors, use 2.4GHz.
